Family Friendly Sacramento: July 2019

Phew. I haven't done a round up of kid-friendly/family-friendly activities in Sacramento in ages. I'm really going to try and get back in the habit. I've put together some stuff for July - just in case your summer schedule isn't packed enough already. So here's my list of things to do in Sacramento this month.

July 4 - 4th of July Bike Parade: One of our favorite neighborhood events -- I grew up decorating my bike and riding in this as a kid. It's nice now when my kids can carry on the tradition. If you're anywhere near Arden Park and looking for something to do - put this on your list.

July 6 - Mindful Me - Kids Yoga: My kids love yoga - and this class is for ages 3-8. I've never been to it but it sounds delightful.  I'd love to try it sometime when it fits in our schedule.

July 11 - Gather: Oak Park: As I write this, we haven't gone to any of the Gather events this year. But boy, have we loved them in the past. I'm really hoping to make it happen this Summer.

July 12-28 - State Fair: Can't go without mentioning this for the month of July. If its not too hot and you need something to do - this is an option for about 1/2 the month. Check out the website for special events and kids days that get special prices on wristbands for rides. I'm looking forward to this - just like every year!

July 13 - Gather: Movies at the Fort: Movies at Sutter's Fort? And put on by Gather? This sounds amazing. July 13 the movies are Jurassic Park and A League of Their Own. Another event I'd really love to check out this year.

July 13-14 - Community Camp Out (Elk Grove): If you love these camp outs in local parks and especially if Elk Grove is your hood -- I'd consider checking this out. We have one in our neighborhood that I'd love to do one of these days. It's a good intro to camping too if you're not a family of big campers.

July 14 - Kids Bike Festival: My kids love getting out on their bikes and racing. This event at Phoenix Park in Fair Oaks is a perfect spot for all bike riders to try some racing. Check out the schedule and sign up in advance if your kids are interested.

July 27 - Bark Rubbing (Effie Yeaw): This sounds like a neat, hands-on event at Effie Yeaw Nature Center - which is one of our favorite places to check out anytime of year that we are looking to get outside and explore.

Something I'm missing that's happening around town? Let me know in the comments.
