Things to Do: June 2017

Eek! I am so excited. It's the time of year where there is an outdoor festival type event almost daily in Sacramento. So much starts up for the Summer. Here are some of the events I'm looking forward to the most.

June 2: First Friday at the Fountains - Local vendors, music, kid zone... oh and that train. We need no other reasons to go the First Friday events at the Fountains in Roseville. We won't make it this month -- but hope to make it at some point this summer.

June 3: Pops in the Park - The first Saturday in June (and all the rest of the Saturdays) music will travel from park to park in East Sacramento. I'm really, really hoping to go to at least one or two of these this year. I think the kids will love the music. We can't make it this first week - but I'm thinking June 10 at Bertha Henschel Park would be perfect.

June 13: Summer Movie Express kicks off - During the summer at some local movie theaters they will play $1 second run family movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am. This first set is for Kung Fu Panda 3 and Ice Age: Collision Course. Check out the whole list on the website.

June 15: Member Only Evening at the Zoo - Looks like this is all that's left of the Twilight Thursdays at the Sacramento Zoo. But we always love a good "Members only" event because it isn't so crowded. And the zoo after hours means it isn't so hot either!

June 18: Fathers and Frogs  - Grab dad and head to Effie Yeaw for a fun time at the pond. Catch and release activities will give kids an up-close look at all that dwells in the water. This seems like a perfect low-key father's day event to check out!

June 18: Father's Day on the Farm - We discovered an amazing brewery last month. Goathouse Brewery has been on our list for at least a year and it is our bad we didn't get out there sooner. So kid friendly - with goats to visit with and feed and a friendly farm dog and even toys. My bet is it gets crowded on Father's Day - but it would probably be a very fun time.

June 22: Placer County Fair - Nothing says Summer like county fairs. If you missed the Sacramento County Fair in May - put Placer County on your calendar. It runs through the 25th of June.

June 24: R Street Block Party - Just the other day Jonny asked me if they were ever going to have any more of these at the WAL Public Market. We went to one a few years ago and the had a fun kid zone where the kids painted, good food, good drinks, and music. It's how we discovered Lucille would sit through a short play at B Street Theater - because we got free tickets. Hope we get out there again this time!

June 25: Salamander Storytime - Storytime at Effie Yeaw Nature Center is always fun (and something I remember from when I was a kid!) Join them on the 25th and hear all about our Salamander friends.
