Around Town: Week of March 3

If you're interested in appreciating a little art this week - head over to the Crocker Art Museum and check out Gregory Kondos' paintings. He has done some amazing California landscapes and well as great paintings of Greece. The exhibit opened Feb. 24 and runs through May 19. The beach girl scene by Kondos on the left is one of my favorites of his.

I don't know how many times I've said this in the past 8 months... but if I was drinking wine I'd be going to this 1st event. In celebration of International Women's Day in March - Matteo's Pizza and Bistro is doing a 7 course Wine Dinner featuring female winemakers. Tickets are $48 a person... but for a 7 course meal and wine... that really isn't bad at all. The event isn't really until next week - but its Monday, March 11 - and I thought next weeks post might not give enough time if you're interested.

On March 10, you can head over to the Effie Yaw Nature Center with your kids and teach them a little bit about the native Maidu people at their "The Old Ways" program.

Or how about participating in the Donut Dash on March 9? Just run, walk or jog from William Land Park over to Marie's Donuts, enjoy some donuts and then jog back. Yikes. Maybe just walk back. It sounds fun (and delicious) to me. And its all for a good cause.
