Things to Do: October 2018

October is a busy month. There are so many harvest festivals and Halloween related things you could go to. I've got some of those and more below. I'm also going to be doing a giveaway for a pair of tickets to the Pumpkin Nights event in Auburn that starts on October 17 (details below) so be sure you're following me on Instagram!

October 5-7 - Sacramento Greek Food Festival: Well, you know where we will be this weekend. Lucille dances on Saturday and Sunday (2pm and 1:30pm respectively) and we will be there a lot more than just that. If you're around come and say hi!!

October 6 - Gold Country Wildlife Rescue Open House: This is a once a year experience to check out behind the scenes of a wildlife rescue facility. I really think my kids would LOVE this. They love the vet area at the Sacramento Zoo and learning about the care and rescue of wild animals.

October 6 - Water Lantern Festival: I'm not sure what this is like since it seems to be a big event that they have in many cities throughout the US - but the idea seems really cool. Something kids a little older than mine might really enjoy.

October 6-7 - Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival: 'Tis the season for all things pumpkin. This weekend festival is the perfect place to get your fill too.

October 7 - NatureFest 2018: Lots of chances to get your hands and eyes on nature at this annual event at Effie Yeaw. Kids under 12 are free and adults are $5.

October 7 -  SundayFunday at the Air Sports Park: Got Milk is giving away some free tickets to kids 6-14 to check out different CircusTrix air sports locations in California and one of them is in Sacramento. Limited availability so if you're interested go check it out.

October 12 - Oktoberfest: I have never been to an Oktoberfest in Sacramento - but I am looking for ways to enjoy the Fall this year -- and thought this might be fun. Or it might be crowded and miserable for us and the kids. Who knows. We will see!

October 14 - Falling Leaf Festival: This event is called a craft fair really and is part of the Carmichael Sunday Farmers' Market. I've never been - but it could be worth checking out!

October 17 - Pumpkin Nights: This is one I am really looking forward to checking out! Themed carved pumpkins on display every night through November 4 at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. They sent us free passes so we could share the fun! Oh AND be sure you are following me on Instagram for a ticket giveaway!

October 20 - Spookomotive Train Ride: All month long Spooky train rides are happening in Old Sac through the Train Museum. If you're a member you get a discount. These are happening every weekend not just this day -- so pick what works best for you or what theme you like.

October 26 - Annabelle Broom, the Unhappy Witch: A fun play for the family - visit a little bit out of town. The Woodland Opera House always has some interesting family choices and this one is perfect for October. Other dates/times available so check the whole calendar out!

Let me know if I missed something fun this month - I'm sure I did because there is so much going on. Happy October to all!
