Things to Do: May 2018

The weather is finally warming up! Who else is ready to be outside?

If you are looking for things to do around Sacramento this month - I've got them here for you:

May 4: Star Wars DayWe've all heard the "May the 4th be with you..." jokes I'm sure. Well, Fairytale Town is using May 4 to bring Star Wars to you. If you've got a little Jedi - think about bringing him to this fun event.

May 4: Movie at the Park: Leap! - It's the first summer movie night at Arden Park and they will be playing Leap! My kids had a fun time watching Moana last year at one of these - and this year they don't even care what movie it is - they just want to go watch it.

May 5: California Raptor Center Open House - The California Raptor Center in Davis provides a unique opportunity to get to see raptors up close and personal. They aren't open to the public all the time so when they have open house times - it's worth making the trip to Davis.

May 6: Gifts from Mother Earth - A fun weekend event at Effie Yeaw Nature Center where kids can learn to polish abalone to make a necklace.

May 6: Dino Days at Sierra College - If you've got a kid that's interested in Dinosaurs or science in general (or maybe you're trying to peek their curiosity a little more...) this event might be worth checking out. I'm putting it on our calendar for this year.

May 10: Gather: Oak Park - It's the kick-off of the monthly Oak Park fun that runs through October. Food, drinks, music, and people - this kid-friendly event is a favorite of ours. It is definitely going on our calendar.

May 12: Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Free Guided Tour - If you've ever wanted to check out the Yolo Bypass Area for wildlife watching - but would prefer a guided tour - this is a perfect time. They have these almost monthly and there is so much to see in this wildlife area - you won't be disappointed.

May 25-27: Roseville Greek Food & Wine Festival - You know where we will be this weekend. But really, this is a nice festival in our area. It's fun to be outside and it feels like a kick-off to the Summer.

May 27: Wet and Wild Pond Animals - Check out the pond creatures at Effie Yeaw with this fun kid-friendly program. Catch and release activities give your kids an up-close look at all things wet and wild.

What are you planning on doing in May?
