Friday Favorites: Books, Bees and more. 1/7

This week has been a bit of a cluster. My mom tested positive for COVID over the weekend and so I was scrabbling (like the rest of the U.S.) to find tests for my family (preferably without waiting in line for 2 hours or sitting in a waiting room full of all potentially COVID positive people). The kids were supposed to go back to school on Tuesday - but out of abundance of caution, I kept them home until the test results came back.

Good thing, because we got our results back and all tested positive. The kids and I have very little symptoms (if any.) And same with my dad. My mom is feeling the worst (tired and achy), and my husband feels like he's got a cold.

Anyways. I had hopes of starting the New Year off with some focus -- but it seems like the universe had other plans. I had blog posts plans - but haven't had time to get the pictures together for them. It's been a little bit of work and a lot of family game time, and homework help and figuring out what food we need and placing online orders. (See proof of game time below)

One thing I have been able to do is find some favorite things to share this week - so I'll start there.

NY Times readers pick their favorite book of the past 125 years. And I agree with #1 - but not necessarily the rest.

Beekeepers protest in Chile by surrounding the presidential palace with beehives. I'm so intrigued by this. (If you don't know bees are a slight obsession of mine - this blog was originally called "High Heels and Honeybees")

Parents feel like they're being gaslit right now. (And also, may I add, I can't imagine being a teacher right now.)

Go google "R. Kelly's net worth" - he deserves even worse, but it did make me smile.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching when it comes to work - and I feel like this is 100% true.

During our isolation, I've convinced my kids that the last three Harry Potter movies "aren't that scary" and we watched them. And then we got to watch the lovely reunion special on HBO Max and it was perfect.

Love these computer and phone backgrounds for January from Hello Adams Family.

Currently reading:Visible Empire and listening to: Her Heart for a Compass

Ok! So happy weekend. I'll try for more posts soon...
