Around Town: Sacramento in October 2021

I've tried a few times to revive these posts. But it never quite seemed right. I was thinking back in July about starting them up and then COVID numbers got worse -- and I couldn't get jazzed about going places. With people.

But I'm working on it. We are doing all we can to be safe -- masking, testing and of course anyone who can get vaccinated in my family is. We stay mostly outdoors with other people. All that stuff. But I still worry about it.

Anyways, the point is, I am going to give it a shot for October. If you're comfortable out and about with people - here are some fun things you can do this month.

Oct 1-2: Greek Food Festival - This of course is a big one for us. While it will be different this year, I'm hoping we will at least stop by at some point and pick up some food. Keep the kids outside and masked up. They have their covid protocols on the website too, if you're wondering.

Oct 2: CruiseFest on Fulton Ave. - Another annual event that is back for 2021. Also outside and I'm sure you could find a place to park your car and watch if you've got a kid who really likes cars.

Oct 2-3: Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival - We've never done this one - but I always think about checking it out.

Oct 3: Monet to Matisse - French Impressionism is coming to the Crocker and I am so excited. It will be around until January 2022 - but I'm hoping to find a weekday that I can take the kids when it's not busy. Masks are required.

Oct 7: Fair Oaks Food Truck Mania - Before we became bogged down with sports practices and before COVID -- I loved these Food Truck events. It always helps with the dinner planning!

Oct 9: Spookomotive Train Ride - We've done this in the past and it was pretty fun. Mostly just as another excuse to get in your costume and be with friends. I think its still too crowded for us this year and my kids aren't as into train rides as they used to be - but its back every weekend from Oct 9 - Oct 31.

Oct 9: Arden Park Fall Festival - Another annual event that is back. It's hyper local and outside which are two positives when it comes to COVID worries -- but who knows what our soccer schedule will look like.

Oct 15: Full Belly Farm Pizza Night - Pizza, salad and ice cream at Full Belly Farm. Bring a blanket and enjoy a fun relaxed dinner outside. RSVP in advance.

Oct 17: Falling Leaf Craft Festival - This is out in Roseville if you're out that way and looking for a fun fall themed event.

Oct 23: Owl-O-Ween - I always am attracted to events at Effie Yeaw Nature Center. Maybe because I grew up going there as a kid. There is a morning and afternoon entrance time (to spread out the kiddos) and I'm thinking this could be a fun Halloween event for the family.

Oct 23: Halloween Family Fun Fest - Some Halloween fun at the Sunrise Mall Farmers' Market.

What else am I missing for October, Sacramento? If you know of an event I should add - mention it in the comments below!

Happy October!
