Family Friendly Sacramento: August 2019

Only 2 more weeks of summer break! Now is the time to get out and do all those things you were hoping to do. Or just let the kids be kids and explore. If you're looking for ideas for kid-friendly events around Sacramento in August - here is my list of suggestions.

August 3 - Fairy Houses at Koobs Nature Area: If you've got a little one who loves fairies - this would be a great event to put on your calendar. Make fairy houses at Koobs Nature Area in Carmichael. I'm hoping we can go to this - it  sounds so fun.

August 3 - Humpty Dumpty turns 60!: Celebrate 60 years of Fairytale Town! I'm really excited for the new Fairytale Town expansion - even if my kids are getting close to being too old for it. It's been around since I was a kid and since my dad was a kid. So we've got 3 generations that have enjoyed this park.

August 4 - Kids & Co. Gallery Adventure: We've been enjoying the Crocker Art with our kids lately - and this is another great way to do that. This event is aimed at 5 year olds and up -- and is a great way to expose them to art. Members are free.

August 9 - Hot Summer Nights Concert Series (Elk Grove): This music series happens ever week at Laguna Town Hall in Elk Grove - so check the link for what music is playing each Friday. If it's not too hot - I love taking the kids to live music in the park.

August 10 - Gather: Movies at the Fort: Another chance to watch movies at Sutter Fort with the folks from Gather. This time the movies are The Fast and the Furious and Mean Girls. So probably meant more for older kiddos than mine. But still sounds fun!

August 17 - Music in the Park, Brad Wilson: Another music option in the park to check out - this time in Arden Park. Also right after the kids start school -- so might be too much or might be a great way to push summer a little longer.

August 17 - Picnic Express: Maybe a train ride was on your list of summer "musts" or you've just got a kid who loves trains. This Picnic Express from the Sacramento River Train is a great option. They've got a one scheduled every Saturday in August - so lots of chances to check it out.

August 24 - Concerts in the Park: Mumbo Gumbo: A Sacramento favorite band - Mumbo Gumbo is fun for the whole family to check out. This Concert in the Park series is at Carmichael Park.

August 25 -  National Park Service Birthday: Celebrate 103 years of the National Park Service -- and visit a National Park today for free. Oh, and if you do -- check if they have a Junior Ranger activity for your kiddos!
