Halloween Books for Your Little Goblins

I realized that I've done a few posts on Fall books and Harvest books this time of year -- but not as much on actual Halloween Books for kids (although the Fall list includes a few good ones.) Here is a list of some fun books that are perfect for Halloween that you might not have heard of before.

She Made a Monster - This is a new book that is perfect for Halloween - but also perfect to encourage any little girls who love writing and storytelling. It's one that we bought to add to our home collection. Beautiful illustrations, too.

If You're Spooky and You Know It - We also love the spooky wheels on the bus in fact, any classic kids song turned spooky is a winner in our house!

Sir Simon, Super Scarer - This looks way to cute to be scary. It's on my library request list... but there was a line. So I haven't actually read it yet. But it was too cute looking to leave out.

Ginny Goblin is Not Allowed to Open This Box - Not a real "Halloween" theme book - BUT it is a goblin so I'll add it anyways. The kids enjoy saying the line about "not allowed to open this box" ever time it repeats.

Room on the Broom - This is a classic. I'm sad that I've never talked about it on the blog before! We just love it. I almost didn't put it on this list because I'm sure you've already read it. But JUST in case you haven't... here it is.

The Ghostly Carousel - I LOVE children's poetry books and this is the perfect one for October. And the art is inspiring.

Bone Soup: A Spooky, Tasty Tale - Your kids probably know all about Stone Soup. They've probably made it at their preschool or kindergarten. But what about Bone Soup? It includes a recipe too.

Ghoulia - Another one that I haven't read yet, but it is on my library list! A little zombie girl has a hard time making friends because she is different. A great story line anytime of year.

What are your favorite books to read this time of year? Spooky books? Funny books? Have any recommendations? I'd love to hear!
