Summer Reading List: Mom Edition

I'm really hoping to get some good Summer reading in while we are traveling and vacationing this Summer. In fact, I've put together a reading list for me and for the kids too. I'll try and share their list too when I get around to it - but first I'll share mine.

For me, I'm trying to things across a variety of my favorite genres.

Political "Chick Lit" Fiction: Campaign Widows - The description of this book reminds me vaguely of the series by Kristin Gore that started with Sammy's Hill. And I read those books as quickly as they came out.

Historical Fiction: Love and Ruin - I have been seeing this book EVERYWHERE so I feel like it has got to be my historical fiction pick. Plus, Hemingway? Yes, please.

Thriller/Mystery: Force of Nature - I really enjoyed reading The Dry last Summer and I am excited to see what is next from this author. Hoping it is as good as the first.

Non Fiction: Educated: A Memoir - Reading I'll Be Gone in the Dark has me itching for more good non-fiction. This one has some amazingly high ratings on Goodreads so - I figure it is where to go next.

Parenting: I'm Just Happy to Be Here: A Memoir of Renegade Mothering - This book appeals to me for a few reasons. One, I always think it is super helpful to read or hear about how totally normal the shit show at your house is. Second, the author is local. Go, Sacramento!

Young Adult: A Study in Charlotte - So much about this book intrigues me. First, I will always love a good YA book. Especially during the Summer and especially on vacation. Second, offspring of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson? Totally into it. And third, it was free on my kindle with my Prime Membership. I can't wait to start it.

What are you hoping to read this Summer? I'd love any recommendations - leave your thoughts in the comments!
