A 2017 Roundup

One of my favorite things to do at the end of a year is to think back about all my favorite songs, books, movies, etc. If you want to read my 2016 edition - check it out.

This year was a breakthrough year for me - I saw more movies in the theater and read more books than I have since the kids were born. I'm feeling like a normal person again. 4 1/2 years later! (lol)

Ok, so here are some of my favs from 2017:

Joan Shelley - Over and Even. This album is from 2015 - but for me, it was all new in 2017 and I love it. My love for Hamilton continued - and the rest of my family joined in with The Mixtape and Jonny and I got to see the show live in San Francisco. It was amazing.

I started going to spin classes at Team-ride on a regular basis - and got a few favorite songs out of those classes. I've been loving "Sorry Not Sorry" by Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello's Havana.

I listened on audio to The Highly Sensitive Child and I was blown away. I think Lucille is an HSC (Highly Sensitive Child) and this book really gave me some great ways to work and encourage both my kids.

Another AMAZING audiobook - was Amy Poehler's "Yes Please". I wasn't a huge Amy Poehler fan before this book. I thought she was funny - but I didn't necessarily seek out her work outside of SNL. This book changed that. I laughed so hard while listening to her and by the end felt like I should be friends with her. Oh, and it made me start watching Parks and Rec on Netflix. And I would venture to say that the audiobook is key.

I got into the Louise Penny Chief Inspector Gamache Series and read a few and listened to a few on audiobook. I also read a few thriller type books - The Dry and The Perfect Stranger. Making me think that thrillers are a good genre for me.

I watched the movie Loving at the beginning of the year - and I still think about how great that story is.

And of course, we LOVED the Sacramento based movie Lady Bird.

Have a book, movie or music that you liked this year? Please share it!
