Things to Do: April 2017

Well, we've been a little under the weather at our house lately - so excuse the so, so late post. We've already missed a weekend full of things to do in Sacramento this month. But - if you're looking to fill up the rest of your calendar - I've got you covered.

April 6 - River Cats Opening Night: It's springtime and that means baseball for many. April 6 is the home opener for the River Cats - but they have plenty of games all month long. And don't forget that Tuesday is family value day - meaning $1 hot dogs and $1 Ice Cream or Merlinos.

April 8 - Easter Eggstravaganza: An Easter celebration for the family up at El Dorado Hills Town Center. Egg zones for different ages, the Easter bunny, magic show and more. If this is your neighborhood check it out! Even if it isn't it sounds like a good day.

April 8 - Easter Egg Express: For your train lover - combine easter and trains with the Sacramento RiverTrain. The also have trains April 9th and April 15th.

April 15 - Spring Eggstravaganza: Another Easter celebration - this one at Fairytale Town. More from the Puppet Art Theater Company plus a visit from Peter Rabbit. This event is both Saturday and Sunday and free to Fairytale Town members.

April 21-23 - San Joaquin Asparagus Festival: I love checking out the various food-theme festivals in northern California. It's part of the advantage of living in an area where such a variety of food is grown! I've never been to this one but it might be worth checking out!

April 22 - UC Davis Picnic Day: We have yet to go to picnic day as a family. We love Davis but I have a feeling its just going to be too busy on this day. Plus its Lucille's birthday weekend - so we probably won't go this year either. But I've had so much fun in the past!

April 29 - Kids Day at Hagan Park: A family event at Hagan Park - you can expect tons of activities for the kids, information for the parents and of course, food and drinks. Best for kids 12 and under.

April 29 - Star Wars Day at the Sac Zoo: This isn't a big deal at our house yet, but I know plenty of households that are Star Wars obsessed. The event is free to members but non-members need special tickets in advance.

April 29 - James and the Giant Peach, Jr.: Another FAVORITE of mine growing up was anything, Roald Dahl. This is done by the Young Performers' Theatre at Davis Musical Theater Company. It opens on April 29th and runs through mid-May. I'm hoping to check this out with Lucille.

April 29 - Yomen: A Spring Celebration: A special event of the native California tribes recognizing spring held out in Roseville Maidu Park. Lots of activities and events for the kids. Free event.
