Things to Do: February 2017

We are one month in to 2017. Have you been exploring you community yet? We've had some big storms last month - that kept us inside a bit more than we planned - so we have high hopes for February. How about you?

Feb 4: Sacramento Museum Day -  Admission to Sacramento area museums is free (or reduced) on this day. If there is a museum you've been wondering if you're kids would enjoy - this is a great time to check it out. I'm thinking to check out the California Museum or the Roseville Utility Exploration Center.

Feb 5: Frozen - Sing with the Film - If you have kids that are still obsessed with Frozen - or love the music and singing - this would be a fun event at The Crest to take them to. It's in the evening and tickets are under $10.

Feb 11: Valentine's Day Storytime - Barnes & Noble in Natomas (also at Arden Fair and Roseville) will have storytime for the kids. One of the books they will read is a Pete the Cat book - and my kids love Pete the Cat. If the weather isn't cooperating - this is a good indoor activity. The also have a Mighty, Mighty Construction Site storytime on Feb. 18 if you're kids are into trucks and stuff.

Feb 12: I Heart the Sacramento Zoo - A Valentine's Day celebration at the Sacramento Zoo - special enrichments and activities will be spread around the zoo. These day are always fun to go on because sometimes the animals that hide come out for the special treats. It's all in the price of admission (or free if you're a member!)

Feb 14: Valentine's Day Carriage Rides - Celebrating Valentine's Day as a family? Consider making El Dorado Hills Town Center your destination and you can take the kids on a fun carriage ride too. $25 for a family of four.

Feb 18: Hands on History - By Land and Sea - Sutter's Fort can really be a fun place to explore and let the kids run off some energy on a nice day. Their "Hands on History" events include live demonstrations, reenactments, and more fun stuff to get the kids really engaged. This month's theme is "By Land and Sea."

Feb 25: Winter Star Party - If you've got kids interested in Astronomy - check out this chance to get a look at the stars. It's a bit of a drive from Sacramento - but that makes it all the better to see the stars.

Feb 25: Family Day at the Presidio - Celebrating the opening of the new Visitor's Center at the Presidio - KQED is hosting a family day. It would be the perfect time to take a little road trip to the Bay Area with the whole family.

Anything fun you're doing in Northern California this month? Share it in the comments!

Happy February!
