August in Sacramento

Well, here we are. Ready to go back to school, back to the fall, back to the grind. But most of us still have August to celebrate summer. If you are looking for things to do in and around Sacramento this month - I've got it for ya. We spent a lot of last month out of town on little mini vacays - so we didn't get many of the events last month.

August 5: Zootopia Movie Night - You can watch Zootopia at Curtis Park on Aug. 5 or if you can't make that - Aug 6 at McClatchy Park. If you didn't get to see this movie when it came out - or if you're kids were obsessed with it - here is a fun, free way to see it!

August 5: Friday Nights @ The Barn - Might be more for the parents... but Off the Grid is hosting a modern day Barn Dance. Music, food, cocktails, dancing. Maybe its a good night for a baby sitter.

August 6: Tomato Sauce Canning Party - If you like making your own sauce and want to spend a night on a farm. Check this event out. The are also doing a canning party on August 20 if you can't make this one. Eatwell Farm also has a CSA box if you're looking to try one.

August 11: Gather: Oak Park - Every month, people! If you haven't been yet - please check it out. Music, food, drinks. Good for the kids.

August 13: Sowing the Seeds of Serenity: Garden and Art to Soothe Stressed Children - Oh if Lucille was 4 I would take her to this. She gets really anxious sometimes and something like this would be good for her. I love Soil Born Farms and the events that they come up with. If you've got a little one with fears or anxiety (ages 4-17) put this on your list of things to check out in August.

August 20: Hook Movie Night -  Check out a classic movie with your kids at Glenn Hall Park. The summer is coming to an end and these movie nights are really fun things to do getting the kid outside and enjoying the warm weather.

August 21: Bats and Brews - Davis Beer Week is bringing together the Yolo Basin Foundation and Sudwerk Brewing. Taste some beers, learn about bats an listen to some live music. Not bad if you like the outdoors and beer.

August 26: Tahoe Park Food Truck Mania - Another chance to get out and enjoy some local parks before the summer ends - this food truck gathering is in Tahoe Park.

August 27: Children's Story Time @ Underground Books - Lucille loves story times - so I really want to check this one out. I love Underground Books too so its a win-win. Its from 12-1pm.

Hope August is a great month for everyone!
