Around Town: Sacramento during 4th of July week

I haven't done an Around Town feature in a LONG time. But I have been doing some research on what to do this week - since we have 4th of July and my husband's birthday (the big 4-0) is next Sunday.

July 3 is a River Cats vs. Grizzlies game, and the River Cats will be in Red, White and Blue patriotic jerseys and they'll have a post-game fireworks show. Also on July 3 - you can go watch Angels in the Outfield at Howe Park at their Movie at the Ballpark event. Another July 3 movie event - is Yankee Doodle Dandy at the Crocker Art Museum.

On the 4th of July we'll be watching the Arden Park 4th of July Parade. I can't wait till the kids are old enough to participate. I remember decorating my bike and riding in it when I was a kid.

Next Saturday at Fairytale Town is hosting an International Celebration, featuring dance troupes from all over the world. Sounds like a great event for the kids, especially if they like music.

The California Automobile Museum has a new exhibit that tells the story of early car dealers in Sacramento. If you or your kids are interested in old cars - that would be worth checking out. It just opened yesterday, and runs through November - so you have plenty of time to check it out.

July 6 - there is a Sacramento Republic FC game. They sell out - so if you are interested get tickets now.
