Birchbox: Hits and Misses

I've been getting Birchbox delivered for 4 months now (the 5th is in the mail!) and I thought it might be a good time to share some of the items that I've gotten that have been great (and some not so great.) First, I must say that this has been a really affordable way for me to try new things out. The sample sizes are always on the larger side -- and its prevented me from frivolous drugstore spending - which probably use to equal out to at least $10 a month.

Ok, so my 4 favorites so far: (pictured above)

1.) BCBG MaxAzria Bon Genre Perfume - This smells amazing. I have been on the hunt for a new perfume and I think this is it. As soon as I am done with the sample I am buying it. I've received complements on it too.

2.) theBalm cosmetics Stainiac - I've always liked lip stains. They seem to add just enough color and they don't smear or come off on your coffee cup. I've been using the Sephora Lush Flush forever - but they don't make it anymore. And to be honest? This one is better. It provides more color and seems like a better quality.

3.) DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum - I always complain that creams or face serum samples are never big enough to really know if they'll do any good. That is not the case with this sample. Its a large size considering what a small amount you use a day. Its going to last me a few more months easily. And I can already tell a difference in my skin. Its on my list of items to purchase once the sample is gone.

4.) Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect - I have very dry hair - and this has been a great extra conditioner for my hair in the mornings. I try not to blow dry my hair because of how dry it is - but this helps if I want to put some heat on it. Again, a great size trial ... I'm still using it and I received it back in August.

The only 2 samples I've been disappointed by:

1.) Birchbox Bobby Pins - I wanted to like these. They were so cute. But when I actually went to put them in my hair they snagged on my hair. A lot. It was painful to put them in and take them out. And they are actually a little too large as well.

2.) Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser - This looked and felt and smelled like tar. Not something I want to put on my face. I actually threw this sample out. My least favorite by far.

If you aren't already - check out Brichbox. $10 a month for your beauty sample fix. Plus its always fun to get things in the mail!
