In anticipation for some long nights with baby Lucille - I have been putting together some music for her. A quiet list and a loud list. Some are classics, some are kids songs (mostly kids songs redone by someone mainstream) and some are not kids songs but I thought they still worked.
Anyways, I thought I'd share some of my Quiet Time song list so far:
1.) Way Over Yonder in The Minor Key - Billy Bragg & Wilco (from Mermaid Avenue)
2.) I Know You Care - Ellie Goulding (from Halcyon)
3.) Butterfly Nets - Bishop Allen (from The Broken String)
4.) Dream a Little Dream of Me - The Mamas & The Paps (from Dream a Little Dream: The Cass Elliott Collection)
5.) Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (from Facing Future)
6.) The Rainbow Connection - Sarah McLachlan (from For The Kids)
7.) This Little Light of Mine - Elizabeth Mitchell (from You Are My Flower)
8.) Everyday - Fiona Apple and Jon Brion (from Rave On Buddy Holly)
9.) Shake Sugaree - Elizabeth Cotten and Brenda Evans (from Shake Sugaree)
10.) A Pirate Looks at Forty (Jimmy Buffet cover) - Jack Johnson (from the iTunes Original)
That's just a few... but I'd take any suggestions. I'll post some of my Loud List soon too. And if you are a mama (or papa) and looking for some kid music you might be able to listen to - check out Elizabeth Mitchell's albums. She covers some great folk music - and her albums are geared towards kids. I've actually really been enjoying her stuff.

Love The Rainbow Connection. I used to play that and sing it to Jasper. Having a playlist for the hospital after the baby is born is nice too.
ReplyDelete"True Blue" by Bright Eyes and "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" are two lullabies I sang to Jasper.
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions, Trinity. I can't hear By Your Side by Sade without remembering walking a fussy baby in the evening.
ReplyDeleteI love all these suggestions. :) Thanks!
