Around Town: February 24

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2 at Fairytale Town! They have some great crafts and readings and events planned -- and if you have a kiddo that is a fan it seems worth checking out. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is You're Only Old Once! If you haven't read it - you should.

Of course, I have to mention Beer Week. Even though I won't be participating - I wanted to share some of the great events happening. Go and enjoy some sour beer at Pourhouse. If you haven't checked out Pourhouse yet, this is a good time to do it. We went there a few weeks ago and the food was great. If you're a Lagunitas fan (and who isn't) check out Lagunitas Trivia and Blues at the Shack on Feb. 27. There are so many other events - just check the calendar. There is something for everyone. Maybe I'll take the hubby to one that involves food so I can have some fun too.

This coming weekend is also the Behind the Cellar Door event up in Amador. This is a great weekend of food and wine tasting at some great wineries in our backyard. I've done this a few times in the past and would recommend it as one of my favorite special tasting weekends. Tickets are cheaper than these events normally are - so that helps. Be sure to head to Story Winery if you decide to go - they have good wine and a great view!
